Jenever

Juniper-flavored spirit, also known as Junever, Geneva, Genever, Jeniever, Peket, Holland Gin or Dutch Gin. According to tradition Sylvius Franciscus, Dutch chemist, doctor and professor at the University of Leiden, in the seventeenth century experienced a remedy to cure stomach and kidney ailments based on the administration of grain alcohol and juniper berries, thus was born Jenever, which then evolved into "Gin". Today it is still produced in its original version in Netherlands and Belgium.
