Havana Club

Cuban brand of Rum produced in the distilleries of Santa Cruz del Norte and San Jose de Las Lajas, Havana, Cuba. It was created by José Arechabala in 1878 and owes its name to the famous Havana Club Bar, located in Havana. In 1959, with the success of the revolution, the family Arechabala had to leave Cuba and emigrate in Spain and later in the USA. In 1976 the brand with the name, expired already since three years because not renewed by the owners, was recorded by Cuban export both in Cuba and in the USA and, since 1993, the product is marketed by Havana Club International S.A., a joint venture between french Pernod Ricard and the Cuban export.
