Distillers Company Limited, a leading English Whisky company, founded in 1877 from the union of six Scotch Whisky distillery: Macfarlane & Co., John Bald & Co, John Haig & Co, MacNab Bros & Co, Robert Mowbray and Stewart & Co. In 1925 was joined by John Walker & Son and Buchanan-Dewar. Now it includes about forty distilleries, among which stand out, besides those already named, White Horse and Sanderson. An important purchase was the trademark Guinness in 1986. The company owns also companies Tanqueray, Gordon's, Booth’s, Cossack and Hine.
