At the beginning of 1500 to the painter Bernardino Luini was commissioned a fresco depicting the Virgin and the Adoration of the Magi to be exhibited in the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles, in the town of Saronno, Italy. Legend has it that the painter, during the period in which stayed in Saronno, fell in love with the innkeeper to stay and decided to use itas a model for his Madonna. As a thank you she gave him an elixir made ​​with Brandy, herbs, bitter almonds and sugar toast. The success was immediate and its diffusion in Italy and abroad was not long in coming. In the town of Saronno is situated the historic factroy of Illva Saronno SpA company, a manufacturer of liquor with the brand "Disaronno".
